- In the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, on May 19, 2025, the first fully electric tugboat in Europe, Volta 1, was put into operation.
- The vessel's project was developed in collaboration with Damen. Volta 1 is a Reversed Stern Drive (RSD) tug, designed with a double-ended hull and equipped with the patented Twin Fin skeg for optimal stability and maneuverability.
- The vessel can be used as both a front and rear tug.
- Thanks to the battery capacity of 2782 MWh, it lasts for 12 hours of operation. Other characteristics of Volta 1: overall length - 24.73 m, width - 13.13 m, height of the side - 6.5 m, speed - 12 knots.
- In addition to Volta 1 at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, five energy-efficient tugs with RSD drive were put into operation to replace outdated vessels. The renewal of the port fleet with new environmentally friendly vessels is carried out under a comprehensive program, the ultimate goal of which is to achieve zero emission levels during operations by 2050.
